Thomas Education and Fundación Deportiva Hipocampo Announce Strategic Partnership to Advance Sport Development in Latin America
AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND – July 21, 2025 – Thomas Education (www.thomas-education.co.nz) is delighted to announce the formalisation of its long-standing international collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Fundación Hipocampo, a prominent sport development organisation based in Santiago, Chile. This strategic partnership aims to significantly further sport education and development initiatives across Latin America.
Fundación Deportiva Hipocampo brings extensive reach and expertise, having cultivated strong relationships with rugby clubs and schools spanning Chile’s 4th to 10th regions, as well as in Argentina. Their network provides access to a substantial community of over 1,000 rugby players across various age groups and engages more than 100 dedicated coaches and physical education teachers.
Jorge Torres Vergara, President of Fundación Deportiva Hipocampo, emphasised the profound impact of this partnership: “This is primarily a great partnership that will allow us to establish cultural bridges of sport education with a social purpose and to concretely carry out our mission and vision. Our objective is to position ourselves as strategic regional partners and to establish ties and links with neighbouring countries, generating solid and stable relationships over time.”
For Thomas Education, this MOU represents a natural progression of the international collaboration it has fostered over the past six years. This new step will enable the implementation of more robust and continuous programmes throughout Latin America.
Fran Serrano, Director of Thomas Education, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are pleased to be entering a new phase in our collaboration with Fundación Deportiva Hipocampo. We share common values when it comes to education and sport development, and it made sense to join synergies.”
Both organisations are committed to rolling out impactful leadership and sport education programmes, leveraging their combined strengths to foster positive change and growth within the region’s sporting landscape.
